Guest: Best by Everson!
I read the HC version a few months back and was blown away by the intensity of the narrative, the plot was interesting and the characters as real as can be written. It has a lot of erotic horror moments but I enjoyed the dialogue the most. John Everson's best book so far!

kresby: The 13th
I read The 13th a little while back. John Everson has a knack for spinning great tales. This novel does not disappoint. There are plenty of bloody scenes and sex too but it all fits right in. Nothing gratuitous here. Just great characters that you want to know more about and scenes that will titillate you into a page turner. The ending is quite satisfying. I'll make sure to look for John's next book.

firefly: The 13th
What can I say, awesome book from start to finish. Wanted more time to read it as I went along. BUt was grateful I didn't as I got to endulge in this book for longer. Lots of great sex and violence scenes but nothing too ridiculous. All of it well within the books limits. I have never read any of John's work but have to say I was very impressed. I was enthralled all the way through the book and concerned for these women and what was happening to them.
If you love fast paced novel with lots of sacrificing, sex and gore, you will love this book. A heart stopper till the end. I didn't want to finish this book, it was too enjoyable left me wanting more!!!

Erik L. Smith: Everson is better then ever.
With his third novel, John Everson has, once again, surpassed himself. I loved The Covenant. Sacrifice upped the ante. Now, The 13th blows the doors off of what has come before. With great characters, fast pacing and LOTS of gore, this novel will take you on a ride that you won't soon forget.

Rhonda Wilson: Demonic Tale For "Extreme" Horror Lovers
David Shale has come to Castle Point to stay with his aunt and train for the Olympics. While out riding, Shale gets knocked off his bike by a distracted police officer, Christy Sorenson, in her car. She rushes him to the nearest building, Castle House Lodge, which a century ago was an exclusive resort hotel. Upon entering they are told it has been renovated into a mental hospital for pregnant women.
Later that night, Shale goes to a bar to ease his pain from the accident, and meets a girl who later ends up missing. Actually, LOTS of girls end up missing! Both Sorenson and Shale are wondering if it's a coincidence that Castle House Lodge has just happened to get renovated at the same time as the disappearances started taking place.
Once again, Everson has written a wonderfully erotic demonic twisted tale. He begins his story by giving the readers a chance to get to know the main characters and get emotionally attached, and then throws them into the nightmare in the latter half of the book. Everson's brutal depictions of the killings throughout the book will turn some readers off, but for the true horror and gore lovers out there, they will crave every last drop of blood. In true Everson fashion, The 13th also has sexual scenes and demonic possession. This book crosses over many sub-genres of horror in order to fulfill the needs of all horror readers.
Highly Recommended!
